Sketch Travel (Cat)
2012 Sketch Travel Exhibit at Cartoon Art Museum, San Francisco, CA Guest artist. Created and donated a a plush of the cat character from Sketch Travel promotional video. Collaborator Dice Tsutsumi.
I got to know Dice recent years and learned how appealing his color choices and character designs are. When he was working on the promotional video, we were chatting about how the cat character appeals as a plush figure. I asked him if it’s OK for me to create a cat and he said of course! I’m a type of artist that I need a really strong design inspiration and someone has genuine passion for that character.
We went thru several round of prototype revisions/feedback and few months later I finished it. I used the 3D modeling for pattern drafting stage and the rest is pretty much manual. Sew, draw, pelt, adjust, sew, draw… repeat many times.
