Le Petit Prince : VR

planning my 2016 halloween costume in VR using Tilt Brush by google with htc vive. i gave myself a challenge this year how i can use some new technology for my costume construction different from previous ones. Seeing my final product in my scale was somewhat surreal but I’m already excited about this!

i was inspired by the Little Prince paper puppets stop motion sequence. I want to capture his whimsical costume and his innocent facial expression when he appears in the desert and says “draw me a sheep?” i saw on the film in Japan and moved by its story and visuals. watched in Netflix over and over observing his very distinct facial shape and proportion of the character so I can construct the costume fits in my real human scale.

  • built head model and my stand-in body in maya2017
  • export the mesh as .obj
  • import the .obj mesh in Tilt Brush and start drawing with cool features just came out
  • export .fbx file out from tilt brush
  • load the .fbx model in modeling software of your choice. I use Marvelous Designer 6 since the final garment will be tailored in here and the tilt brush mesh is a good visual guide for me to keep in MD6 environment.
  • load the hair part in maya and start cleaning up the mesh for 3d printing
