my project from last year… inspired by the children’s book “Ellie” by Mike Wu.
I’m very fortunate to be surrounded by inspirational artists like Mike Wu. Collaboration between artists involves transparent communication and creative discussion from both design and practicality POV. Ellie was definitely a challenging character due to her tusk blocking her eye-line. We adjusted the balance of her forehead and eye locations many times just like we do in CG character design process. MarvelousDesigner -> my trusted sewing machine.
I used Marvelous Designer for prevising the model and pattern. I adjust the bottom fabric material params to anchor the model during inflation (puff) instead of pinning to the floor to mimic plastic pellets I use for final piece for weights.
