Back in April I worked on The Dam Keeper inspired kids size hats.
In Bay Area I wear fleece hats pretty much all year long or at least I keep one in my car for cold foggy evenings. This idea came during cold foggy evening of course… Drafted patterns in Marvelous Designer 3 (MD3) and scaled pattern for real sewing. It was straight forward construction except I had to make a little pocket for muzzle to keep its shape. Like other hats I make I add colorful printed cotton lining for comfort and visual interests.
Also I got a good advice from several parents that 3+ yrs old are around the age when they start wearing hats for extended time. If they like it, they’ll be wearing it all day long they said. I’m back to pattern adjustment for little bigger size.
話はちょっともどりますが、４月にThe Dam Keeper にインスパイアーされた子供サイズのフリースハットを作りました。ベイエリアではフリースハットは一年中の必需品です。とくに霧のたつ寒い夜用にいつも車にキープ。もちろんこのデザインも寒い”春の夜”に思いつきました。Marvelous Designer 3 (MD3)で型紙作成。縫い合わせるのはサクサクできましたが、お鼻の形を整えるのに小さなポケットを中に作り綿をつめました。ハットの裏は楽しい色の綿プリントを使いました。あ、子供のいる友達のからのアドバイスとして、子供はだいたい３歳位から帽子をある程度長くかぶってくれるそうです。お気に入りだったら、一日中かぶってるとか。では、ちょっとこれから頭サイズのパターンの調節ですね。
