lamp bases

I needed 2 types of swing arm lamp bases. One was screwed on to desk type and other one was a wider clamp base. Screw on base was easy, I found a screw-on base model from Thingiverse with some modification since my lamp has a longer arm than a standard desk one.

2hrs in Cura pre-set normal quality to print. However… this time I tried turning off the build plate heat after the screwed on part was printed. I figured that this was a cone shape model with a very stable base, so it may not be needed to be heated entire time. Well… last 8mins of printing (while I was cooking dinner) base shifted!!! I had a very festive result at the finish. I think the cool down popped the plastic off the platform even I religiously prepped glued surface. However it printed enough height I needed so I gave a quick clean up shaving and sanding, it supports my lamp just fine 🙂

The second one was a base clamp. The book shelf we needed to clamp the lamp base had a very shallow grip area. I’m sure it would be fine since we won’t be adjusting the arm anyway but I wanted something wider contact area, it’s just me, not you (I said that to EJ when I pitched the idea).
