Le Petit Prince : 100hrs later

100 hrs and 150m PLA later, temporary assembling 13 printed pieces. This is probably my most favorite and most nerve wrecking moment because i’m constantly asking myself 2 questions “would I fit in?” and “would my wearble design keep the integrity of the character?”. also going to my printer room to pick up finished pieces are like Christmas and Hanukkah came together, i find new gifts magically appear under printers in the span of multiple days… this one lasted for 4 days. i get giddy.

i’m so glad that I saw my rough product in VR. Last time I made a full-size Rocket Raccoon costume, I miscalculated the head size and had to abort the print in the mid point then re-print all over again after the scale fix. With Rocket I didn’t think of taking the process of putting it on & off, so the neck hole was too small. Even with pre-planning in Maya carefully, there some potential problem areas I couldn’t foresee, such as “how to put it on?”. Making a mistake during the printing process is expensive in both lost time and materials. brownie points for Tilt Brush 😉
